Personalized Medicine (PM) is different from the traditional medicine and will significantly change our life in the future. The paper introduces medical informatics technology and infrastructure needed to enable personalized medicine. Current research challenges and opportunities of PM inthe USA are summarized, some recommendations on development of PM in China are also provided.
