The paper discusses the evaluation of classic medical textbooks in English before acquisition. It points out that the content should be authoritative, advanced, easily understandable and practical and the form should reflect the press, edition, author and his/her association and translation,etc. Acquisition librarians should make reasonable assessment and comprehensive evaluation before the acquisition of classic medical textbooks in English.
