The paper puts forward the functions of the information literacy competency assessment upon medical students, the effects to education model as well as discusses the methods of the competency assessment of information literacy. It also states the importance of establishing information literacy competency standards or index system of medical students, and describes that based on the standards or index system, the questionnaire survey can be conducted and the training test bank can be developed.
