The electronic health record research is a hot concern both in China and abroad. The paper introduces the international background of establishing the electronic health record, elaborates the research status of electronic health record from two aspects: published literatures and related events review in China, prospects the future development, points out the establishment of electronic health record could improve the national health level, through assessing disease prevention and managing chronic diseases.
