Taking Shanxi Medical University as an example，the paper investigates and analyzes the current situation of students′consciousness of intellectual property rights(IPR) protection. The investigation involves the following major points: the cognition of IPR and relevant knowledges, the attitudes to the tort such as piracy, the ways to obtain the IPR knowledge as well as the attitudes to the IPR curriculum. The results indicates that students in the university general lack of the IPR knowledge and their protection consciousness is relatively weak. Corresponding suggestions for the effective IPR education are put forward.
