Medical Informatics, as an emerging interdisciplinary, has got rapid development in the past few decades, the connotation of discipline is increasingly abundant, and the field of research is continuously expanding. The paper briefly introduces the connotation of medical informatics, reviews the development history of medical informatics both in China and abroad, analyzes the research focus of medical informatics and gives thoughts on the development of medical informatics in China.It aims to cause further research and discussion, jointly advance the development of medical informatics discipline.
