The paper analyzes the basic situations of co-occurrence concepts in UMLS from the aspects of external data sources, statistical units, storage and record description, elaborates the characteristics from the aspects of co-occurrence type, co-occurrence property, the direction of co-occurrence concepts. Based on the above it discusses the determination method of co-occurrence concepts as well as their practical application.
