The paper clarifies the enlightenment of the long tail theory to library information services, puts forward the countermeasures for deepening library information services using the long tail theory, including opening up personalized service, revealing the resources comprehensively, fertilizing reading guidance service, strengthening resources integration,constructing an alliance mechanism and so on, so as to further more improve the developing and utilizing extents of the collection resources in libraries
