Through interview investigation and working practices the paper points out the existing problems in the periodical reading room in college and university libraries, pronounces that the periodical reading room in college and university libraries should transform in the following aspects: service idea and method, structure of collections, overall quality of librarians, in order to meet the information demands of teaching and scientific research.
