The paper introduces the concept of health technology assessment (HTA) as well as its development status in both China and abroad. The significance of implementing HTA is clarified, the feasible development direction of HTA in China is proposed and analyzed, including working out a national plan, raising the fund, setting up corresponding information release mechanism, etc.
