The paper introduces the current situations of Average Length of Stay （ALOS） control both in China and abroad, discusses the countermeasures and effects of controlling ALOS based on hospital information system, including providing real-time inquiry and analysis platform, supervising special objects, optimizing services and workflow, monitoring laboratory efficiency, strengthening infection control, implementing clinical pathway information system, deploying the beds uniformly and increasing resource utilization efficiency, etc.
