Aiming at privacy protection of personal health information, the paper gives a brief introduction to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), including its history, policy objectives, main contents of privacy protection, etc. Through analysis on HIPAA′s characteristics and success factors, suggestions for our country are put forward, so as to strengthen legislation and technical standards formulation in personal health private information protection.
