The paper points out the current problems in health information management education in China. Taking Shanghai Sipo Polytechnic School as an example, an innovative training model for health information management talent is discussed containing creating virtual digital hospital environment, creating career-based training mode, constructing core course system, promoting comprehensive capacity education, compiling medical and health information technology teaching materials, constructing international and cultural teaching groupe, aiming to cultivate compound and applied professional talents to meet the demands of the society.
