Aiming at the current situation and deficiency of academic education for medical informatics, the paper points out that offering long-schooling education for medical informatics is important for specialty development, and could provide high-level talents to meet the demands of the society. The significance of offering long-schooling education for medical informatics is also discussed in detail.
