The paper sorts out the connotation and relationship of information literacy, health literacy and Health Information Literacy (HIL), expounds the study progress of HIL assessment tools and HIL at home and abroad, analyzes the study status and problems in China, and puts forward suggestions, including paying attention to the HIL of different populations, developing more assessment tools applicable to the general population and patients with specialized diseases, etc.
