The paper expounds the building and management of the reference sequence database (RefSeq) from the aspects of the characteristics of reference sequence data, data generation, acquisition, maintenance and application, discusses the building of large reference sequence databases in China, including the building of refined reference sequence to promote the development of precision medicine in China; standardize data processing flow, ensure data quality, etc.
